If using /Zc:__cplusplus and /Zc:preprocessor the workaround in place causes compile errors when something calls C74_VARFUN ; the "normal" version instead works.

(in my case, if you want to repro:

t_pxobject x_obj;
t_object* dsp64{};
object_method(dsp64, gensym("getnuminputchannels"), &x_obj, 0);
